About Us

First University is a Bible-focused, family-friendly church that is made up of young and established families, singles, college students and "seasoned" citizens.

We have great programs for children and youth, as well as a variety of dynamic ministries to strengthen the church and community. We also conduct separate Creole language services.

Located in close proximity to the University of South Florida, Florida Hospital (Tampa, Wesley Chapel & Carrollwood) The VA Hospital & Moffitt Cancer Center, our church is deeply rooted in the USF Area Community.

We have transitioned from a tent to a small storefront to a Chapel on the USF Campus to a converted house which we quickly outgrew. In 2006, we were blessed to find our current Worship & Ministry Center with a sanctuary that seats 700.

Along with USF area residents, our church family members travel from as far away as Ocala, Riverview, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, New Tampa, Wesley Chapel and points between. We are not defined by our geographic reach and we claim no favored demographic. The "1U Experience" is one where we are all equal in Christ.

First University also a part of a larger body that extends a culturally diverse, global reach. We are a part of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a rapidly-growing Christian group who accept the Scriptures as supreme authority on what to believe and how we should live. We believe we are called to obey that supreme authority out of love for Christ, who provides our salvation by His grace.

We also believe we are called to build and strengthen our church family. We are called to GROW spiritually as individuals and as a church family, RECOVER & RESTORE those who may have lost touch or may be losing touch with the church family, NURTURE those who are new to the church family so that they gain a sense of value and become integrated into the "1U experience."

As “One body of Christian believers serving everyone through love,” we believe we are also called to SHARE the love of Jesus with our community and every nation. We are also called to SERVE through community service programs, we are called to accomplish all of this through ORDER in every aspect and we are called to PLAN so that our programs are based on relevant data that is well designed for success.

That's who we are: a growing, Bible-based, family-friendly and mission driven body of Christian believers serving everyone through the love of Jesus. But, wait, there's more...visit us from anywhere to experience what words could not express.
